It is in this framework that the "Société Tunisienne des Marchés de Gros" (Tunisian Company of the Wholesale Markets) "SO.TU.MA.G", was created on December 4, 1980 with a capital of 2.000.000 dinars. The market of Bir Kassaâ entered into its operational stage since December 17, 1984 and the decree n° 85-125 of 02/01/1985, classifies it within the category "National Interest Market: NIM ".
The NIM of Bir Kassaâ constitutes the most important commercial platform of the country. It spreads on a land of 50 hectares, accepts daily 30000 visitors, 10000 vehicles, 1100 tons of fruits and vegetables and 50 tons of sea products, that is to say for the year 2001 a total of 388000 tons of goods for a turnover of 203 MD. |
